ALL NIGHT

For the first time in many days - Christopher slept through the night and remained in his room!  He must have been really tired from the weekend.  I know the feeling buddy!

This post just got me to thinking in fact that really this irregular sleep has been going on for a couple of months now  . . . and further more may very well have contributed to the lack of posts.  One because my posts often occurred when he was in bed by 7:30 every night and remained there in the morning long enough that when I woke at 5am I would have almost an hour before he got up - - - but that is rare now, very rare and so not only does the timing not work; and so Two - I am also just tired.  Starting at 5/5:30 and going till 10ish with night time interruptions no wonder I feel out of sorts and disorganized.

You have got to be kidding me.

This afternoon I had to stop at connivence store after picking Christopher up from school.  The standard practice is that he joins me and he purchases a candy bar of his choice by himself.  Today they had a bucket of small packages of pretzels with Halloween designs on them.  Orange and black packages.  Though I told him he wouldn't like them he insisted on the Orange package so I gave him the quarter and he purchased the package.  Upon opening it for him he became disappointed and decided he now wanted the black one. So again I hand to him a quarter and he proudly makes his purchase.  Again I open the package for him to which he responds with his head hung low and his little hand at his forehead saying "You have got to be kidding me!"

Next he selected a yummy ice cream treat from the freezer box.  Totally worth the 50 cents and the additional $1.95 for ice cream to hear such an appropriate statement of disappointment.

Oh Shit! Doughnut!

New favorite phrase.  "Oh Shit" Parents of children that have a child with delayed speech are hard pressed to be upset with fowl language when used appropriately still we have to correct them.  (While hiding as best we can our laughter.)

Christopher sitting in his car seat on his way to school thumbing away at his gameboy exclaims to me . . . "OH SHIT!  I didn't win the castle Mom!"  I remind him that isn't nice to say and that he should try again.  He proceeds to play - frustrated he his now yelling "Doughnut.  DOUGHNUT!"  Translation - "Darn It!

Too Cute!

Sleep Walking

So we had a rough time of sleep schedule just before the beginning  of school and thru the first few weeks. Up at all hours of the night.  Every light on including outside lights and tv's.  We seem to have broken that cycle, thank goodness because I was getting broken sleep like I had an infant all over again.  But now he is sleep walking.  Last three nights he has slept walked to my room at times like 2 / 3 / and 5.  Our room has never been a place for him to sleep.  But at 2AM it is easier to pull him into bed and let him sleep - the alternative being to walk him back to his room and possibly then waking him with no return to sleep.  I guess I am ok with this as long as we all still get to sleep.  I am grateful that if he is sleep walking that he is coming to the safety of our room and not going outside at least!

Particularly since I saw a BIG black bear last night on our way home from hockey less than a mile from our home.  That is very close.  I knew we had bears here - I have seen them before.  Still it is always a shock to see them.   I have door alarms that I haven't installed yet - but I guess it just moved up on the priority list for a task this weekend.

Fire Station Field Trip

Last night at bedtime I reminded Christopher that he would be going with his class to the Fire Station.  He got so excited he settled right down so that it could be tomorrow.

Today he and his class did walk to the Fire Station despite the rain.  And when I went to get him he was proudly wearing his fire hat.  He told me to step in behind him, buckle up and lets go.  He proceeded to roar like a fire truck all the way to the car!

Now he is watching Fireman Sam on Netflix.

So many great stories and achievements missed in blog activity.

Sorry Christopher, family and friends.  I had to take a break.  And once I did that it was hard to get back in the habit.

I am sad to have missed out on so many great stories and achievements that I may not be able to recall to write about now . . . but the break was very much needed.

We have kind of spent the last few months rather unplugged from blogging, photos, and such.  Just living in the moment.

But I wish to continue to record on a more regularly daily basis.  The idea when I began was to keep it simple.  A quick note each day, building over time to tell a story.  So overwhelmed by missing so many days I am cutting myself some slack and I am just gonna jump back in and start with today.
