Posting for a year!

It has been a year now since I began our posting about our daily life living with Autism.  Not sure why I haven't posted in over two weeks - guess I just needed a break.  So hang onto your seat cause below you are about to see 12 post to catch up.  There are many posts still to do to get caught up. Later I will post more on this years journey. For now enjoy the posts from this today.  Thank you for joining us our journey.

900 Knots tied with love!

Christopher and I recently visited our 3 favorite girls.  We brought them their special horse blankets we made.  900 knots tied with love.  It was a great visit.  The girls really warmed up to Christopher and were equally engaging in play with him.  C'ept for when he was pretending to be a monster.  They really don't like to be roared at.

Toe nail clean off!

OUCH!  My bad I guess - I allowed Christopher to play with some rocks - no bigger than an adult size fist - but apparently no match for his bare little toes.  He had great fun lifting and dumping with dump trucks all day long.  But then it happened.  I heard it hit the ground and the quick squeal.  Upon my immediate inspection of the scene there it was handing on but just by the smallest amount - his entire toe nail, second over from the big toe.  He has been quiet the trooper though.  Was more distraught over the fact that I cut a hole in his sneaker to allow room for the injury.  He won't let me touch it.  So he's had lots of extra bath/shower time to keep it clean.  Still pretty red and a bit oozy but clean and so far seems to be on the mend.  Will be a long time before we seem any nail growth I think.

POOP ON POTTY!

Lots of naked time at home lately to work on the potty routine.  Christopher has has several successes with peeing on the potty.  But until today has never pooped on the potty.  I was upstairs and I heard him announcing "potty" so I ran down to assist.  Only he had already gone on his own!  Not just pee but poop too!  He even did a descent job with the wiping.  Way to go Christopher!

"come on!"

Our a recent road trip I didn't put the car seat video player in the car.  As we were rolling Christopher banged on the headrest and proclaimed in protest, "come on!"  Basically saying what the hell Mom, why is there no road trip movie?  Are you serious?  This is not how we travel.  Let me out now.  I am not happy with this situation!  He did adjust and gazed out the window while we drove. LOL

First birthday party invite.

Well once your in school you have friends and with friends comes the party invites.  Christopher's buddy "N" invited him to his birthday party at the bowling alley.  We went late (skipped the hour of bowling) and came for the pizza and cake.  He saw his friends, heard all the noise, checked out all the video games, and was done.  He kept running to the entrance.  Rather than force him to stay - we said our goodbyes, our thank yous and off we went with our goodie bag.  So it was all of 15 mins, but not a melt down.  Maybe next time he'll sit for cake.  For him it was all the fun he needed.  Knowing no different - he was happy to have gone for a ride and that he had a goodie bag.

Laundry helper still

Since we had so much fun at the laundry mat - he now helps out at home too.  Only we don't have the cool coin operated system. And clothes are optional at home!

Mommy's helper.

So for a period of two weeks our washer was out of order.  So off to the laundry mat at Mims Market basement.  Christopher was so helpful to carry, sort, and coin start the machines.  This brought back fun memories of Hawk and I doing laundry at the mat when we lived north and Hawk was the same age.

Little Drummer Boy

Sometimes he sneaks down to the basement where we have this drum set set up.  He has great rhythm so that at times I think its Hawk messing around down there before I figure that its Christopher.

Hanging in the car.

Hawk had a baseball game on this rainy cold day.  Christopher refused shoes so we hung in the car and watched.  Fine with me I didn't want to be outside anyway.  We had great fun with the freedom to move about the car freely.  On occasion I started the car to warm up some.  Onetime he was on my lap - and his quick thinking mind was far faster than mine!  I had just turned the engine over and he submarines down and punches the gas!  REV! Everyone and I mean EVERYONE looked over.  Proud mommy moment.  NOT! Oh well fun overall non the less.

Play ball.

Christopher found a whistle the other day and was blowing all through out the house.  The amazing part for me was that he also announced over and over "Play ball"  Appropriate use of words.  Two words that we have heard before but this time with in a new context that I had no idea he already knew.

Ouch!

Remember the good old cartoons?  Like The Ant and the Aardvark?  We have access to all these old episodes with our Netflix thru our Wii.  Christopher has been enjoying them tremendously.  This photo captures the moment that he anticipated and then announces "Ouch!"  He enjoys the smooth jazz that is on continuous play in the background.  I enjoyed the flash back - as I watched I actually remembered watching these - and could feel the same looming anticipation that at any moment Mom was going to announce the Saturday morning clean up the house mandate. LOL - wink.

Pumpkin Selection - An art for one - Non event for the other.

We hunted for just the right pumpkin to carve our annual support for our favorite sports team.  Christopher was far more interested in the farm shovel.
