I was doing laundry and saw Christopher run by. Thought that was weird, but welcomed that fact that he wasn't coming in to tumble the folded clothes per usual order but then I hear his little voice from the bathroom; all I heard was "oh man, oh man, . . . . . oh man"
Standing in a lake of pee at the base of the potty he stood frozen unsure what to do next. Thankfully he just stood there and didn't run back out over the carpet with wet pants.
Me: "Oops, looks like you waited too long."
Christopher: "Oh man."
Me: "No big deal, it is OK. I will take off you wet clothes and you can take a shower to clean the pee off your legs."
Christopher: "OK I was my legs."
No big deal - time to give a good wash to the floor anyway - today it gets bleach. :-)

Yeah you get a prize!

Mommy -Impromptu excitement - "Yeah, you get a prize! Good job pooping on the potty!"
Christopher replies skeptical - "A prize for me?"
Mommy - "Yep you did such a good job taking yourself to the potty. Come with me to get your prize!" Christopher running at my heals towards the kitchen - "A PRIZE!"
A small handful of mini marshmallow's and the joy and wonderment of the whole experience was fantastic.
Mostly we have had success this week. Some almost attempts - but not complete fails. And another perfect "delivery" this morning landed him another "Prize handful of the most coveted mini marshmallows." :-)
We now have all summer to perfect this. He will be returning to school fully potty trained. One more goal to check off the IEP. (Individual Education Plan).
GOOD WORK CHRISTOPHER!

Well looks like we are back in diapers for now.
ZERO interest in the potty. Not even trying, so back to diapers for now. Not sure what else to do. I don't think that he cares about going in his pants. I want him to be able to use the potty on his own. Not because we are bringing him to the bathroom every hour to avoid a mess. I don't want to push him to use the potty and have it unpleasant experience. Once again I am going to fall back on my previous and still active belief that "when he's ready, he'll be ready." For now thats the way it goes. We had a few days this time, maybe next time we can go a week. For now - back to diapers. Maybe pull ups - but not till I use the box of diapers that we bought last week. Then I will only buy pull ups after that.

48 Hours
Could it be . . . ten years ago Hawk at the age of 3 and 3days declared just before bed "no diaper" and we never looked back. Well now it's been 48 hours since Christopher has made the same declaration. No diapers for 48 hours and counting. Dry bed, each morning. We even made a 2 1/2 hour (one way!) trip to a NY rink for hockey game today and still we've had no accident. I brought his potty chair just in case. He looked so cute sitting on it in the back of the car. He didn't actually go but he tried with out fuss. I even brought the extra car seat just in case it got messy on the way, but never needed it. I don't know we'll see . . . tomorrow is Monday so it's back to school hopefully he gets through the day at school without fail. When they are ready they are ready!

Potty Training and Snow Suits
This morning at the rink he says potty. I think really? Well OK lets go. Off with the boots, off with the snow pants, off with the pants . . . . and we have success! Back on with the pants, on with the snow suit, on with the boots. This is going to be a long winter . . . really summer would be a much easier time for this business. But as long as he's showing interest we have to go with it.

Pee Pee on the potty!
This morning I stripped Christopher down for a shower and he kinda motioned over to go towards toilet - I pushed him back to shower and realized "Wait do you need to go potty?" He instantly went to to the potty and tried to climb on so I lifted him up and sat him down. He pushed - tried and - WENT PEE PEE ON THE POTTY! We did a little dance and then he showered.

Poopy on the potty - Almost!
This morning he told me he had to pee. I raced to get his potty chair and slid it under main stream. Then just now he announced poopy, so I removed his underwear so that the mess was less. He proceeded to go to where his potty was still in the kitchen and stood on it. YEAH! I grabbed my cell phone and took this shot quick while praising him. He will probably want to kill me later in life for sharing this big event. But oh well - this is exciting stuff!

No Diapers - Back to diapers. Previewing Potty training.
Monday afternoon this week (yeah I am behind in my posts). Christopher didn't want a diaper, in fact since it was an afternoon at home with Mom he went without anything. I had to go shopping and was really just talking out loud all the things I had to do in order to get out of the house. But Christopher listened. I said " Hey buddy, we need to get you dressed, I got to go upstairs get clothes, and then we can get in the truck and go grocery shopping, won't that be fun." That's a lot to process - I know I was feeling overwhelmed with the many steps it takes to do all that and actually get rolling never mind the shopping part. When I came downstairs I had to then find Christopher - he had vanished? No, he upon my long statement went into the bathroom and was waiting patiently on the changing table to be dressed. Bless you dear child, you do understand me even when I don't understand myself sometimes. Kisses and Hugs, we are off to buy food and big boy undies.
That night he went to bed wearing two pairs of his new underwear because he couldn't choose between the pair with Mator or Lighting Mac-Queen, and woke up dry. We have been putting on undies during the stretches of the day where he has good chance of staying dry and diapering in the others, so far so good. I would go straight undies except that he has not yet sat on the potty. He'll stand near and he'll flush the big one, and is barely interested in the little potty.
Taking it on his cue . . .so this may take a while . . . forward and back . . . and someday he'll get there. I have no real expectations for how this will go other than I am sure that he will surprise me along the way with his abilities.
