F'ing Rocket Ship

A couple of weeks since this happened but just getting to posting about it.

From his car seat I heard him say Rocket Ship - but Daniel corrected me and said no that is not what he said!  Mom he just said F'ing Poop (revised).  Shocked - I corrected him and said you can't say that - but if you are that frustrated with your gameboy you may say Rocket Ship.  He laughed and in turn said F'ing Rocket Ship.  Ugh!  No not what I meant!

A long while ago his favorite word was - Poop (revised) and we managed to get him to replace that with Oh Nut Crackers.  LOL - it was sometime around Christmas - get it?  :-)

Another funny Christopher-ism is Oh Cheeses Snakes!  Get it?  Ha ha ha .

Big words & Big Boy Sharing

While hanging out in kitchen with mom cleaning up.
I finished the paper towel roll and handed it to Christopher telling him that it is a Pirate Telescope.
Response "Mommy you are a genius!"

Later same evening.  Christopher requests one of his new favorite beverages from daddy.
"Dad I want warm coco, PRONTO!"

Big Boy Sharing:

Classroom has a pirate theme right now.  And since we have so much pirate bootie, ie. really cool captains hat, shield, hook, and a pirate ship I talked with Christopher about the possibility of bringing these things to school to share with his classroom.  Home toys and such are forbidden - a rule that we let bend some last year - but have really held the line on this year.  So the idea that he could bring them in was exciting.  I reminded him that he would have to share or they have to stay home.  He agreed and went and gathered the items on his own to bring to the car.  AND reports at the end of day was that he did a good job sharing.

ARRR, Good Job Matte!

use of language

Language is improving - many more words, big and small.

I told him that when Christmas is all over that the tree would have to leave.  Response - "Mom that would be a tragedy."

Time to time he gets the general gist of what he's trying to say but uses similar but incorrect words.  Example - this morning I was told to "use my mind".  Obviously parroting my common phrase to Hawk to please use your brain!

things I have heard over the last few weeks

Me: I Love You
Christopher: I Love You Too

Christopher: Mom can I take my truck?
Me: No, not today.
Christopher: Why?

Following first play date on way home.
Christopher: I want my "name" friend back.  I miss him.

A, B, C, D, E, F, 6, 7 . . .

Begining to say his ABC's.  Singing I heard from the back seat last week on our way home from school.
"A, B, C, D, E, F, 6, 7"  Close enough to celebrate!  Keep up the good work Mr Christopher!

You have got to be kidding me.

This afternoon I had to stop at connivence store after picking Christopher up from school.  The standard practice is that he joins me and he purchases a candy bar of his choice by himself.  Today they had a bucket of small packages of pretzels with Halloween designs on them.  Orange and black packages.  Though I told him he wouldn't like them he insisted on the Orange package so I gave him the quarter and he purchased the package.  Upon opening it for him he became disappointed and decided he now wanted the black one. So again I hand to him a quarter and he proudly makes his purchase.  Again I open the package for him to which he responds with his head hung low and his little hand at his forehead saying "You have got to be kidding me!"

Next he selected a yummy ice cream treat from the freezer box.  Totally worth the 50 cents and the additional $1.95 for ice cream to hear such an appropriate statement of disappointment.

Oh Shit! Doughnut!

New favorite phrase.  "Oh Shit" Parents of children that have a child with delayed speech are hard pressed to be upset with fowl language when used appropriately still we have to correct them.  (While hiding as best we can our laughter.)

Christopher sitting in his car seat on his way to school thumbing away at his gameboy exclaims to me . . . "OH SHIT!  I didn't win the castle Mom!"  I remind him that isn't nice to say and that he should try again.  He proceeds to play - frustrated he his now yelling "Doughnut.  DOUGHNUT!"  Translation - "Darn It!

Too Cute!

Helping him to wipe a wet toy.
"Mommy, I need da towel."
Mommy helps to wipe toy dry.
"Mommy, you did it. Great Job!"

Counting

Counting to three isn't really new - but it has mostly been in the way of a ready set go, one two three.  However last night we did counting of items/pictures in a book.  He led me in counting the windows on the boat - one, two, three.

Ugh! I hate croup!

Once again another sleepless night.  1am the familiar sound of the "barking" cough!  This usually means a trip to the ER to settle him down and get his breathing back to normal.  But with his new language skills he and I were able to communicate and understand each other better.  I was able to comfort him and tell him what we needed to do.  Daddy, Christopher and I set up camp down stairs for a bit of Netflix sitting in front of the froggy cool mister.  I sent Daddy off to bed to get some sleep so if need be we could take shifts.  Christopher and I sat through the movie and then one short episode of Garfield and he seemed to have a more normal breathing rhythm so I told him time to sleep.  We shut off the TV and laid down in the living room on his jumping mattress.  He teased me by steeling my blanket over and over - I was a bit grumpy being so tired and told him to "cut it out"  a newer phase of his, and so he did.  He slept till almost 8am.  Still sounds barky - but we made it through the night no ER and so far no steroid.  But I have a sneaking suspicion that we may need to use the steroid before bed tonight if he still sounds this bad.
