Well once your in school you have friends and with friends comes the party invites. Christopher's buddy "N" invited him to his birthday party at the bowling alley. We went late (skipped the hour of bowling) and came for the pizza and cake. He saw his friends, heard all the noise, checked out all the video games, and was done. He kept running to the entrance. Rather than force him to stay - we said our goodbyes, our thank yous and off we went with our goodie bag. So it was all of 15 mins, but not a melt down. Maybe next time he'll sit for cake. For him it was all the fun he needed. Knowing no different - he was happy to have gone for a ride and that he had a goodie bag.

I think it is so important that you know when it is enough. Everyone had such a positive experience at the birthday party even if it was for only 15 minutes. You could have pushed the issue (for no real reason) and then had a meltdown and a bad experience.
Great Job Mom!
Thank you - I agree. Still for me I am sad, but thats my problem not his, that he didn't join in and stay longer. I could have pushed - but then it would have been for me, not him, and in the end it wouldn't have been the positive experience all be it short that it was. Thanks again.
