Years past have been a disappointment for me with a great deal of heart ache - just me not Christopher. He has never really understood or cared about Halloween like most kids do. Last year he enjoyed handing out candy on the porch at Mema's house (now gone, :-( from the tornado) and enjoyed seeing the monsters and creature that came to collect their treats. That was fun, but still I felt sad for him because I felt like he was missing out. He was happy though and I resigned myself to this was my issue not his. After all he was just thrilled with observing.
Well we missed the official Halloween outing thanks to no power from snow storm but town selectmen post poned tilll this past Saturday. Since he doesn't yet have a great concept of days and events he didn't realize that he missed Halloween - so as far as he knew we were game on.
The town did a great job to prepare for this yearly outing! Cross guards at all the cross walks, and glow necklaces handed out by officers to all the kids. How nice! Thank You!
SO - this year! He was a pirate! AND we went trick or treating with a group of 9 kids and he had a blast! He even is quiet protective of his candy bag in all the appropriate ways that kids hoard their loot!
Seems to me like a major information super highway has come online in his little head and there seems to be no end in sight for the growth we are whitnessing!
